Softball squad completely dominates Monarchs, 24-0

CVHS defeated Mt. Eden 24-0 on April 17. The arrival of Mt. Eden did not slow them down. This was their greatest win of the season.

The sun was shining and the air scented of newly cut grass at the CVHS softball field. Along the fence, you could hear pleased parents and classmates applauding, waving signs, and cheering. The love and excitement in the air made it appear as if the entire school was present.

Additionally, some moments were particularly noteworthy. Adri Anderson had a fantastic day. She pitched an inning without allowing any runs or hits, appearing composed and focused on the mound. She had her first hits of the season at the plate, going 2-for-2 with a double, an RBI, and two runs scored. It was great to witness that kind of confidence.

Giselle De Casas continued her hot streak, finishing 3-for-4 with two doubles, three runs, and six RBIs. It’s her fourth consecutive game with three or more hits, showcasing how consistent she’s been lately. Chloe Spade also had a memorable moment, hitting her first home run of the season. That is an outstanding achievement for any athlete.

“We did a good job of hitting each other in and being productive with our bats. And making sure that the simple plays,” said sophomore Alicia Robertson.

“Winning as a team in softball was the best part of this overall game,” freshman Chloe Spade added.

“Hopefully we can keep cheering throughout the whole game. When we start strong but don’t keep the energy up, things kind of die down. It’s not that the energy is bad—it just isn’t as loud or as strong, and you can really feel that, especially later in the game,” said sophomore Alanys Robertson.

Currently, CVHS leads the WACC Foothill League with a perfect 4-0 league record and an overall record of 13-3 (.812 winning percentage). They’ve dominated league play, defeating their opponents 35-9. Their main competitors, Alameda (2-1 league, 11-7-1 overall) and Bishop O’Dowd (2-2 league, 14-5 overall), are lagging, reinforcing CVHS’s standing as the team to beat.

CVHS is also making waves in NCS. They are presently ranked second, with a 13-3 overall record and a perfect 4-0 record in NCS play. San Leandro is slightly ahead at 17-3 overall, but Castro Valley’s unblemished league record puts them in contention for the top slot. Vintage High School has a 13-4 overall record and a 5-2 conference record.

With each game, CVHS isn’t just stacking wins, but they’re telling a story of teamwork, rising confidence, and untapped potential. The team chemistry is building. The stats are climbing. And the season? Far from over. As these girls continue to fight together and uplift one another, one thing is clear: Castro Valley softball is just getting started.
