Trojans Triumph Over Yellowjackets

The Berkeley Yellowjackets varsity baseball team visited the Trojans on April 16 for their first of two matchups against each other, where the Trojans would win with a score of 7-1.

It was a close game at first, as Berkeley took the lead in the first inning, scoring one run. But the Trojans bounced back in the second inning, scoring four runs. This was largely thanks to left fielder Arthur Sims, who had two RBIs in the inning.

“It felt really good to contribute because in the beginning of the season, I felt like my performance wasn’t where it could be, but I’ve grown through the season,” said Arthur Sims.

Anthony Mares also had a huge hand in the win, getting a hit, a run, and two RBIs. David Colon had the most hits in the game, getting three to go with his run scored and RBI.

After the second inning, the game felt like a blowout, as the Trojans scored one run for every inning while Berkeley simply couldn’t keep up. Pitcher Scott Baldwin also had a dominant game, pitching the full game while only giving up three hits.

The Trojans finished the game with a final score of 7-1. With this win, the Trojans now move to a 13-4 record and are 3-0 against teams in the WACC, making them the only undefeated team in the section.

The Trojans had a rematch against Berkeley on April 18, where the Trojans once again defeated them to complete their season sweep against them.

“I’m proud of the success we’ve been having and our team chemistry that I think has helped us succeed,” said Sims.
