Adjusting to high school is a tangible task

Adjusting to high school may seem like an impossible task at first, but once you take a step back, you realize that it’s really not that bad. Yes, it’s stressful, and yes, there are a lot of changes, but it’s nothing you can’t handle.

I managed to figure out high school pretty easily. Of course, there was drama and stress, but in reality, not much changed. Friends come and go, and it can take a little while to find the right people. You shouldn’t worry about who you’re friends with, just make sure your friends are good for you. During my freshman year, I had a group of friends from middle school. A little bit into the year, people started to not get along with each other as well as they used to. This was tough because that meant the whole group wasn’t much of a group anymore. I was able to find other friends with less drama, and everything ended up working out in the end. I’m still friends with some of the people from that group, but I just have new friends that I met in high school and with whom I’m closer with now.

Another thing that is a little different is the actual school work. Early in high school, the classes aren’t too hard, but as you stay longer it gets more challenging. Just remember to have good study habits, don’t let studying take over your life. It’s important to balance your social life with your school work.

It’s also very important to get enough sleep. Teens should be getting eight to ten hours of sleep every night, but most teens don’t. In high school, you must learn to have good study habits, a happy social life, and a good sleep schedule. I still haven’t quite figured it out yet. Many nights I stay up doing my homework or studying for tests when I should be sleeping. When I eventually go to bed, It’s usually late and I don’t allow for enough time to get a full night of sleep. I wake up in the morning feeling groggy or more tired than normal because I stayed up later and didn’t get enough sleep. During the day I will often zone out more and have more trouble focusing, just because I didn’t sleep enough. It will also be harder to do good school work and homework when you’re sleep deprived. This is tricky, but I know you’ll be able to do it!
