Trojans swim impressive times despite defeat

The CVHS varsity boys swim team lost a tough fight against Piedmont on Friday, March 8, 105.5 to 82. Despite the defeat, the Trojans still showed some fast swimming and personal bests.

Seniors Matthew Jewell and Tyler Hummer and juniors Nathan Nguyen and Simon Li came in first for the varsity boys 200 medley relay, and while this was the only relay the boys won, Li also won individual races. He came in first in the 50 freestyle in 22.46 seconds, and the 100 freestyle in 48.87 seconds.

While the varsity boys didn’t win, the JV team defeated Piedmont 36 to 8. In fact, CVHS JV boys came in first in every single race, and many swimmers achieved personal best times.  Senior James Ngov beat his own best time in the 100 freestyle with 56.92 seconds, breaking a minute. Senior William DeCarli, sophomore Brandon Hill, and sophomore Conrad Parra also got new best times in this event. Sophomore Dillon Ta came in first in the 50 freestyle and got a new personal best time of 26.36 seconds.

With impressive times and fast swimming from both JV and varsity, the Trojans should be victorious again in no time.
