CVHS badminton team takes the win against San Lorenzo

The CVHS badminton team crushed San Lorenzo with a score of 12-3 at their home match on April 12.

In an exciting match, sophomore Max Zhang beat his opponent with a score of 21-0.

“My opponent was a very skilled player,” said Zhang. “I am very proud of Castro Valley High School.”

Sophomore Logan Lei-Chong also won his match. “The people I played were not on a very high skill level and we were on a higher skill level. They weren’t really able to hit the shots back because we are better than them,” said Lei-Chong.

Lei-Chong joined the badminton team last year. “I just wanted to do something because we were in quarantine and it was kind of boring,” he said. “I wanted to do something to participate in the school.”

The CVHS badminton team will soon play in the West Alameda County Conference Championships in the beginning of May.

“We are looking forward to the WACC championships as this will be the first one in 2 years,” said coach Teddy Yau. “It’ll be exciting to see all the players on court again at the tournament.”
