Trojans crushed Huskies with an astounding victory
The CVHS boys varsity tennis team kicked off the season with a resounding 6-1 victory against the Washington Huskies. Of four singles and three doubles matches, only one double was lost.
The match, at CVHS on Feb. 12, was the first of the season. Singles players Michael Chu, sophomore, and Andrew Lottich, freshman won each set 6-0. Edward Wang, senior, triumphed over his opponent after losing one set of 4-6 but winning two more at 6-4 and 10-4, while Ethan Fang, freshman, won in two sets of 6-4 and 7-6.
Doubles Rohit Sinha, junior, and Colby Fong, sophomore won their sets 6-3 and 10-4 after losing one at 5-7. Leon Chen and Ashir Gupta, seniors, achieved victory at 6-3 and 6-1. Ryan Huey, sophomore, and Timothy Orlov, senior, were resolutely defeated with sets of 6-2 and 6-4.
Though the Trojans had won by a wide margin, it is still very early in the season, and there are many matches to go. Regardless, such a victory speaks to the team’s training, talent, and determination, and the experience of the coaches, who have been with us for years. Already, the team is working hard to improve themselves based on their performance.
