Has it ever crossed your mind that, even though we love today’s music, we sometimes find ourselves missing some of the songs we grew up listening to? Those early 2000s hits that get stuck in your head and won’t go away until you start singing them? Well, this year’s choir classes have you covered. Starting March 8, the annual Pops concert, with the theme “Y2K,” will take place at the CVHS Center for the Arts, and it will include a wide array of music, ranging from dramatic solos to fun group performances.
“What I’m most excited about Pops is really just performing for the audience. I appreciate when they applaud because that’s how we know they enjoyed it and consequently, we did a good job,” said senior Chris Guillaume.
This stellar show is put together by our high school’s choirs and their leader Laryssa Sadoway. After months in the making, practicing choreography during class and long rehearsals afterschool, the participants will have their time to shine during their four shows.
“It’s my fourth year doing it, I have a lot of friends in it. It’s just fun to do what I love in front of other people,” said senior Daniel Albright.
Pops is a chance for the CVHS singers to showcase their amazing talents. This show means so many different things for every single participant. For seniors like Daniel Albright and Chris Guillaume, the 2018 Pops is an emotional one, show means their last time performing in it. However, for juniors like Ria Panjwani, this is one more chance to showcase their talent and improve their abilities for next year’s show.
You can expect to hear some classics that appeal to all different tastes, going from “Crazy in love” by Beyonce and “Fallin” by Alicia Keys to “Hit me baby one more time” by Britney Spears and “The Climb” by Miley Cyrus.
If you’re thrilled for the 2018 POPS show, make sure to buy your tickets ahead of time for $13 (students) or $16 (friends and family). You can choose from three different dates: Thursday March 8 and Friday March 9 at 7 pm, or Saturday March 10 at 2 pm and 7 pm. This is for sure a show that hundreds of students eagerly anticipate every year and every show date is at risk of selling out pretty fast. We hope to see you there!
