Ceramics Car Show amazes students and staff

Ceramics students showcased their astonishing car show for the first time in the quad on April 29. The show illustrated a miniature version of the CVHS yearly car show, which followed a day after. The event was organized and built by ceramics students and teacher Emily Bittner, whose goal for the event was to broadcast what opportunities the class has to offer.

“I want students to be able to express themselves through the art of clay and ceramics, and also have a variety of things to choose from to make,” said Bittner.

As the event started, students were happy to see the cars they constructed presented alongside previously made attractions like the Golden Gate Bridge, parking lots and household driveways. As the event went on, Trojans were also surprised with the amount of detail that was put into the show.

“When I walked by I didn’t just notice my car but everyone else’s. There were so many different sizes and shapes of cars and they were all just really creative. It was cool seeing what other people did from the same class,” said student Lexie Torres.

Students in the class have been shown to enjoy the flexibility and the variety of choices they can choose from with clay. The ceramics car show gave students an opportunity to show their skills and love for cars if they weren’t able to participate in the car show.

“I thought it was really cool to be able to bring the car show into a tinier form with students with a touch of creativity at the same time. If you didn’t have a car in the car show you could choose whatever car you wanted with ceramics and bring it to life,” said junior Leah Poon.

In the future Bittner hopes to be able to hold the event on the day of the annual car show to draw more students in. Conjoining both car shows would bring the auto classes audience to the ceramics car show and vice versa.

“I definitely want to do it again next year but probably on the same day as the car show and work to get more teachers and students involved in organizing the event,” said Bittner.
