Me gusta Rico Rico
Rico Rico is a restaurant based in Oakland focusing on Hispanic and Mexican cuisine. The restaurant is close to Lake Merritt, making it a popular choice for locals and tourists who want to visit the lake. The restaurant is cheap and has options for both vegan and non vegans, meaning anyone can enjoy the food they make.
The restaurant is mainly known for their Bay Area style burritos though they serve plenty of other dishes and foods. Their menu consists of tacos, burritos, bowl foods and plenty of appetizers. The food is very good overall, especially the carne asada burritos. I personally enjoy the pollo asada tacos paired with their green sauce that they make in the restaurant.
The atmosphere of the restaurant is very welcoming and feels warm inside. Outside of the restaurant there are many parks and a lake nearby to take a walk at after ordering or eating your food. The employees are very nice and understanding and the restaurant is not too expensive.
The price range is usually $10-20, making it affordable for most people as well as being extremely good. The restaurant is also open all days of the week and doesn’t close until around midnight. The restaurant opened in 2018 meaning it has had plenty of time to develop and support the customers that visit it frequently.
One special twist about the restaurant is that right on the other side of the street is another Rico Rico, though this one makes vegan versions of the original dishes. Having this special vegan extension of the restaurant opens it up for plenty more customers, opening up the restaurant for people who might not want to eat meat or any dairy products.
Overall, I think Rico Rico is one of the best restaurants in Oakland and the surrounding area. The price range is affordable, the food is good and they have a vegan restaurant close by in case you can’t eat meat or dairy.
