Softball team ends strong season with NCS appearance
The CVHS girls softball team had an amazing year. With a nine-game win streak in the middle of the season, and some pretty spectacular victories, the Trojans made it to NCS. Some of these wins include a 24-0 game against Mt. Eden on April 17 and a 16-3 game against Arroyo on April 4.
The Trojans played Foothill on May 21 in their first game of NCS and lost 2-0. This ended their season. This was a tragic repeat of what happened two years ago, when girls softball was taken out of NCS by the first round.
“Take everything as a good thing, and use it to make you a better person or player,” junior Giselle De Casas said.
The team has done incredibly well this year, winning 17 out of 22 games for a win rate of about 77%. The top batting average is 0.545 for Zaylee Gutierrez. Alanys Robertson made ten home runs for the team. De Casas has 12 doubles and two triples. These are amazing stats, and the whole team should be proud of everyone’s accomplishments.
“I think we have taken the opportunities to improve by making it a team atmosphere and focusing on each other’s success, compared to individual success,” De Casas said.
