‘Black Widow’ shows sister alliance
Natasha Romanoff comes face-to-face with her long-lost sister’s gun. They eye each other silently, and then launch into an attack. The two power destructively all throughout the apartment: clearly a friendly sisters’ reunion.
Scarlett Johanson brings “Black Widow” to life, once again, through her thrilling performance of Romanoff. Throughout the past Marvel movies we’ve learned tidbits about Romanoff’s past, but this movie really dives into her history of being a trained assassin, being trafficked, and her family relationships.
Romanoff and her younger sister, Yelena Boleva, were trained to be assassins after they were trafficked by the Red Room. Since then, they have been estranged for decades; now they are combining forces to fight the mysterious Taskmaster.
Teaming back up with her family could be helpful or disastrous. Will they be able to overcome their treacherous past to defeat the trafficker of millions of girls, or will it blow up in their faces?
Though we all love Black Widow, I think her younger sister really stole the show. Boleva has dozens of witty one-liners, fights with grace, and will undoubtedly win over your Marvel-loving heart.
Go see “Black Widow,” but beware of posers.
