Yellow Jackets sting Trojans, 2-1
The boys varsity soccer team played against Berkeley’s Yellow Jackets on Feb. 10, but lost the game 2-1.
After Berkeley scored in the first six minutes, the Trojans’ Dominic Bolender would help tie the game after scoring a penalty kick.
The Trojans would also make a quick goalie substitute following that initial goal, from Rilen Ramirez to Shae Marten.
Despite the rainy weather, both teams would keep the pressure to the max with good Trojan offense and good Yellow Jacket defense.
It would take more than impressive footwork for CVHS to break through Berkeley’s wall. Eventually, the Yellow Jackets found themselves an opening and took the lead 2-1 and held onto it until the very end.
After many close corner kicks and fast throw-ins, the Trojans were unable to find a way to get another goal in.
There was a promising moment at the end where the ball got past the goalie and into an empty goalbox, but no one could get there in time to capitalize and tie the game.
“We played well, we got a little unlucky at the end to end in a loss. Overall Berkeley gave us a really good game and it was a lot of fun and the atmosphere was amazing,” said Ali Jandro El Sheikh.
CVHS will attempt to move on with their 10-7-3 record (wins, losses, ties) and will hopefully go onto win their next game against Piedmont.
