Trojans win first game of season in overtime
The CVHS varsity football team won its first game of the season on August 30, narrowly beating Monte Vista 57-56.
The first quarter ended in the Mustangs’ favor with the score at 14-0 and the game looking favorable for Monte Vista. However, the Trojans fought hard and by halftime the score was in Castro Valleys’ favor, 28-21.
The game went on with both teams playing their hardest and adamant not to lose. The teams finished the fourth quarter with a 49-49 tie. Monte Vista pushed the ball down the field and scored a touchdown giving them the advantage with the score at 56-49. The Trojans answered with another touchdown and successfully went for the two point conversion with a pass from quarterback Kevin Galvan to running back Nick Alfaro winning the game 57-56.
