Don beat Trojans in football

footballThe Trojans (1-1) were defeated in their second game of the season on Sept. 6, by Acalanes High School 13-7.

The first quarter started out with both teams not scoring but putting up a strong defense.

The Dons were quickly put ahead in the second quarter with a 3-yard touchdown run and extra point, leaving the halftime score at 7-0. They went on in the third quarter with a 16-yard run and scored another touchdown.

“The kids put in the time and effort to win the game. We changed up the defense and they prepared like we wanted,” said Acalanes Assistant Coach Mikhail Ress-Nathans.

The Trojans battled back determined to give it their all as quarterback Kevin Galvan passed to fullback Demareyeh Lane who scored a touchdown from just one yard out with 2:13 left in the fourth quarter.

Despite the loss, Castro Valley’s head coach Nic McMaster is determined to fix any slip ups the Trojans had to be prepared to play their next game against California.

“We’ll need to fix our mistakes and show up to play to our potential, that’s just what we’ll focus on at practice,” said McMaster.

Lane covered 81 yards in 14 runs and Galvin successfully completed 14 passes in 20 attempts.
