Leadership welcomes Las Lomas students
Las Lomas High School leadership students, numbering 35 in all, came to CVHS to see what it was like on Nov. 30.
Our leadership class, numbering 37, was tasked with being their tour guide for the day so the Las Lomas students went to all of our leadership’s classes as a shadow. This includes having lunch prepared by our leadership in Rm. 607.
Lots of the leadership students had fun and learned new things.
“It’s good to learn how other schools do leadership stuff,” said Kate Marinchac, a Las Lomas student. Marinchac went on to explain that Las Lomas has boards for the whole year while CVHS has boards for specific events such as homecoming.
“I didn’t think I’d learn anything but I did,” commented Austin Bruckner.
The Las Lomas students decided to take BART to Castro Valley and walk the rest of the way to CVHS. They only came for one day unlike the foreign exchange students from Japan who stayed for a longer amount of time.
Still, “It’s good to be out of school,” as one Las Lomas student said.
The activities director at Las Lomas thought this was a wonderful idea and coordinated this event with Nicholas Whitaker. In order for the Las Lomas students to tag along to our leadership’s classes, Whitaker had to receive approval from all of the teachers, Principal Mary Ann Valles and Assistant Principal Jason Whiteman. Everyone gave his or her approval so this exchange was made possible.
Everyone involved had tons of fun and Whitaker says, “In January or February we will go to Las Lomas.”
