Club shares Vietnamese culture
The room was crowded with students eagerly ready to learn new information as other peers taught about Vietnamese culture. People freely called out loud the answers to questions, engaging frequently.
The Vietnamese Culture Club fosters a fun welcoming environment for all students.
Every Wednesday, the club meets in Room 306 and participates in a variety of activities.
The club does potlucks, sharing delicious Vietnamese dishes such as fresh spring rolls.
It shares information, Vietnamese movies, and traditional games. The activities connect each club member and the variety makes the club meetings exciting.
Moreover, the Vietnamese Culture Club is a haven for people who are interested in Vietnamese culture or share their Vietnamese culture. It’s free of judgment and values authenticity while giving consistent support—a place you can always come to.
“I wasn’t as strongly connected to my Vietnamese heritage as I am Vietnamese-Chinese, so being in VCC has helped strengthen my connection to my heritage,” said Vice President Jin Yuan.
This club offers a way to explore your identity and interests in a low pressure environment. Not only that, you can meet people with similar interests and make meaningful connections there.
Furthermore, the Vietnamese Club is a way of empowering students of Vietnamese heritage.
“Seeing people learn about Vietnamese culture makes me feel as if I carry them on,” said President Debbie Chau.
Students are able to preserve Vietnamese culture, food, history, and tradition in America by spreading their knowledge. They are given a voice, allowing them to resolve misconceptions and educate others.
Overall, the Vietnamese Culture Club allows you to explore Vietnamese culture where it is not just accepted, but appreciated and practiced. It offers belonging, preserves Vietnamese culture, and empowers Vietnamese students and gives them visibility and a voice in CVHS.
