CVHS Badminton Team Defeats San Leandro Pirates

The CVHS badminton team finished their its home competition of the season with a victory over San Leandro High School on April 4. The Trojans easily dominated the Pirates 15 to 0, continuing their winning streak.

Before the game, coach Teddy Yau said, “I expect to see a really competitive game today. Our team just plays hard every single time. Their skill level is really high and we have great leaders.”

“It was a fun game,” said sophomore Brandon Ng, a varsity doubles player. “I was both nervous and excited.”

Badminton can be a tough sport, involving a lot of hand-eye coordination and speed, but the team practices hard every day they don’t have a game to make sure their skills are perfect.

“I joined the team because a lot of my friends were doing it and I like playing,” said freshman Kaylee Yang. “At the beginning of the season I was super nervous because all the seniors left, but now I’m getting closer to my teammates and I’m having fun.”

CVHS has had a great season with only a few games left, and the team is looking forward to the postseason West Alameda County Conference Championships at Mt. Eden High School on May 4.
