CVHS badminton dominated Mt. Eden

Starting off their season strong, the CVHS varsity badminton team dominated Mt. Eden 14-1 at their home game on March 15.

Team spirit was high and Trojans cheered on their teammates with strong words of encouragement as players led in both singles and doubles.

“The best part about my match was winning,” reflected junior Cameron Seah, who played boys doubles with junior Russel Zhao. Seah and Zhao won their two matches 21-3 and 21-7, respectively.

During the game, senior captains Logan Lei-Chong and Elise Fong and junior captain Josh Wong expertly led their team on and off the court.

Playing girls doubles with Fong, senior Anjali Yadavalli excitedly shared her experience: “This is the first time I’ve played with her in the last three years, and the best thing about playing with Elise is she is really good at what she does.”

Fong and Yadavalli won their sets 21-5 and 21-8.

Lei-Chong, who played mixed doubles with freshman Arielle Fong, won 21-6 and 21-7. As an experienced player since freshman year, Lei-Chong looks forward to an exciting end to the season.

“My goal for this season is to go to CIF,” he said.

Coach Lotan Yeung also shares optimistic hopes for all players, “I am so proud of the team so far and I am excited to see everyone continue to improve throughout the season. Hopefully we can finish first.”
