Girls swim team gains mixed results against Piedmont

The CVHS varsity girls swim team swam against Piedmont on March 8 and lost by 96 to 74.  With Trojans having 91 swimmers and Piedmont having only 31, Trojans came into the meet with high hopes and excitement. But the Trojans became more crushed as the meet went on.

“I believe we all went into the meet ready for it,” said freshman Khanh Seaton.

The meet opened with a 200 medley relay. Trojans start off strong with confidence diving into the pool. The audience and swimmers begin to cheer, pumping up each other as they go back and forth across the pool. CVHS took second place with a time of 1.57.46 with a score of 4.

“Who’s your daddy Castro Valley,” the Trojans chanted, along with, “Hail to the lane lines, Hail! Hail to the timers, Hail! Hail to the coaches, Hail! Hail to Piedmont, Hail No!”

The next event began with boys and girls including JV and varsity who have finished their events find their way to the end of the pool and chant on their teammates. Swimmers then moved on to the 200 free medley event. CVHS took a victory with Seaton taking first place with a time of 2.08.74 with a score of 6.

“I was surprised with my timing because I didn’t think I did that well and it came with a lot of pressure being a freshman,” said Seaton.

Five more events passed and Seaton carried the Trojans in the 100 free medley. Seaton finished strong with a time of 58.32 and a score of six.

“In the end I was very happy with how my events went even though I didn’t think I did my best,” said Seaton.

Trojans then got to the 100 breaststroke, and freshman Amalya Khodursky took first place with a time of 1.12.87 and a score of six. The meet closed with a 400 free relay and Trojans took second place with a time of 4.20.51 and a score of four.
