CVHS baseball dominates San Leandro
CVHS Trojans baseball beat the San Leandro Pirates in blowout fashion at home on March 5, continuing an undefeated home record. The game started with senior Michael Olsen taking the mound in a nerve racking first inning with runners on the corners and one out but the Trojans pushed through to shut out the Pirates through the first.
The second and third innings would be more relaxed as Olsen would only allow one hit and two walks. That is until the bottom of the third when the rain started and kept increasing throughout the rest of the game.
The fourth inning was when the Trojans picked up momentum with three runs scored thanks to a two RBI double from pinch hitter Arther Sims to complement the three singles hit this inning. Even more impressive was by this point in the game, the ground was muddy and hard to run on.
The fifth inning featured no noticeable action aside from the rain ceasing a bit there would be a few moments when it would stop and come back repeatedly. In the sixth inning the Pirates were mercy ruled to cheers from the Trojan fans and celebration from the players. Through the cold and downpour, with a score of 7-0, the Trojans won a shutout victory!
