Girls soccer team defeats Haward High 8-0
The CVHS varsity girls soccer team has had a good season so far, after defeating Hayward High on Jan. 13 by a score of 8-0.
CVHS managed to score four times in the first half, with most of the players hovering around Hayward’s goal the majority of the game.
“I think that despite the score, my team really played well. We didn’t let up this fight despite the fact that we were leading the entire game,” said team captain Sophia Barnhart, who plays defense.
When Hayward did bring the ball toward the other end of the field, center midfielder Lauren Taiclet successfully managed to intercept it many times and pulled a hat trick, constantly putting Hayward back on the defense.
After such a successful win, the varsity girls are ready for their upcoming game against Bishop O’Dowd on Jan. 24.
“I feel confident about the Bishop O’Dowd game. We already beat them once this year at their house and we have become a stronger team since then,” said Taiclet. “That game will be a very good game and I hope lots of people come to support us.”
