“We cannot stop the fight”
Never have I been more scared – scared for myself, my family, my friends, and the very foundation of our country.
Never have I wanted to cry over an election, nor have I thought that the president meant to protect us could be the very thing to destroy us.
Now, I sit and think about the innocence I once had, before I knew Donald Trump, MAGS, and the corruption that has a chokehold over our nation.
And after reminiscing, I only have one question.
How has hate won?
But statements, I have many.
I shouldn’t have to fear that my safety, and the safety of everyone I know and love is at risk because of a president. Nobody should have to plan for the worst, preparing themselves for a doomsday scenario because of a president.
Isn’t a president supposed to push our country forward, protect us and the foundations of democracy? That’s what I was led to believe all my life, and I’m sure the same goes for everyone else out there.
It all comes back to that one question, burning at the back of my mind like fire.
How has hate won?
It’s not just about Kamala Harris and Donald Trump anymore, not about Democrats and Republicans. It’s about humanity and the hatred that plagues us.
The future is uncertain, unsteady, and unbearable. While there’s much that I don’t know, what I do know is this: We cannot stop the fight.
We cannot afford to lay down our arms in defeat, to let vice eat us alive.
No, we won’t.
This is the time for us to band together, march forward into the looming darkness. I know it’s terrifying, believe me. We don’t know how far these people, people consumed by hate, will go.
They will claw, scratch, and spit at us, worse than they’ve ever done before. But, how far will they go?
The better question here, actually, is how far will they go back?
How far will they pull us back into a past of discrimination, dehumanization, violence beyond comprehension?
I don’t know. But I do know this: We cannot stop the fight.
So let’s join hands, holding tighter than we’ve ever held before, and march forward. We will not let them drag us into the past. We will not be silenced. We will not live under their oppression.
No, we won’t.
Together, let’s make a beautiful body of love and humanity. We will make it. I’ll say it again and again a thousand times over:
We will prevail.
Totally agree, while this victory and future presidency is infuriating, we really cannot just give up. We just have to keep going, beautifully written article
When you say that you want a president who pushes our country forward, someone who protects us, and someone who retains the foundation of democracy, how are you unhappy with the election results?
I can address these issues.
Pushes our country forward: Disregarding COVID, because that’d be unfair for both parties, Trump brought the unemployment rate to 3.6%, while the current rate is 4.1%. Prices were much lower in 2017-19. Inflation was much lower. Again, disregarding COVID. Inflation rates in 21-22 were really high. Supreme court justices were appointed, our production of energy skyrocketed, forced NATO members to comply (by actually forcing them to pay for their defenses), and many more things.
Someone who protects us: Many things about this is purely subjective, including things like abortion, so I’m not going to comment on things like that. But if you mean protection from foreign adversaries, Trump deported illegals and built the wall. Trump kept Russia and China in check. No new wars were started under Trump. Just think about this. You see so many people dying in Ukraine and in the Middle East. That kind of stuff doesn’t happen under Trump. He cares about people. He doesn’t want them to die. Think about some current events. Biden allowing Zelensky to fire long-range missiles? Really? How does that protect us and our country? Harris, as the border czar, allowing randoms to come into the country? How does that protect us? America first.
Foundation of democracy: This would go too long into detail, but I just have to say, all of our rights listed in the Constitution are protected. I don’t see how it isn’t.
What has Biden-Harris done? Nothing is not the right word here. Minimal.
How has hate won? The republican party does not support hate. In fact, it’s all the opposite. The party focuses on putting the American people first. So I don’t get how that’s hate? Please do some research.
This is so beautifully written and it echoes so many worries I’m sure a lot of our community has. Beautiful, Amaya.
” WE WILL PREVAIL” YES we will!
