Poetry Power: “I miss the old days”
The Olympian shares a poem by junior Tara Tse. “This poem was originally a spew of my thoughts during a sad night of thinking of my old best friends. Now when I look back at it, I can see that it’s a representation of growing up and the need to let go of a past that can’t be restored,” she wrote.
I miss the old days
Even if I know it won’t ever be the same anymore
I miss when we were young and innocent
I miss when we were so close
I miss when it was just us against the world
I miss them and don’t want to let go
Even if I know it’s not healthy
I miss when we were besties
I miss hanging out from sun till sundown
I miss having you be the encouragement to get up
I miss them and can’t seem to let go
Even if I know we’ve found other people
I miss the comfort of your words when we were feeling down
I miss being the one there for you in the times of despair
I miss the late night calls and chats when no one knew we were up
I miss them and want to repeat it all
Even if I know everything we went through seems like a waste
I miss putting both of you as my first
I miss being the main characters of the story we played
I miss having you in my life and being in yours
I miss them and want to rewind time
Even if I know life is moving on
I miss the times when we had time
I miss when growing up seemed so far
I miss what it was like back before the fight
I miss them and need to go forth
Even after it all I’ll keep it in mind
I’ll miss the times we shared
I’ll miss the memories we once held dear
I’ll miss the times when you actually cared
I miss them, but I’ve finally let go
I like this poem, and I also share the feelings of it.
This was amazing it really touched me
I really like this poem. It makes me think about growing up and the days I had.
