Warming up to ugly sweaters
You know that sweater your parents force you to wear at Christmas parties? The sweater that you keep hidden in your closet because it’s so ugly? Well teachers got to strut down the runway in those kinds of holiday sweaters, their ugliest, with pride.
On Dec. 13 in the holiday sweater madness two teachers received the honor of winning the Ugly Sweater Contest. A panel of judges, scoring on a scale of 0-5, declared a tie between teachers Mindy Hager and Jennifer Clyde.
“Everybody has that ugly horrible holiday sweater in their closet,” said Student Activities Director Nicholas Whitaker.
Having the ugliest sweater is no small feat though.
“The critical element to success of winning the ugliest sweater contest is the little added embellishments,” said Clyde.
Clyde and her mother took the time and commitment to add ruffles and ribbons to her sweater to give it the added touch of ugly and holiday spirit.
Hager borrowed a sweater from her mom that provided competition against Clyde’s work-of-art sweater.
“This contest and other activities make school a place to be happy,” said Clyde.
Not only does this contest show the humorous side of our teachers, it also provides a more comfortable community to the students and the staff.
During all the chaos of the holiday season, taking the time to see some good old-fashioned ugly holiday sweaters can provide that humor to spark holiday cheer.
