Varsity girls soccer means discipline

This year’s CVHS varsity girls soccer team is seeking to match, if not top, last year’s overall 27-0-2 record.

With the intense conditioning and practicing, this season’s disciplined team will be the team to beat.

“Practices can be a lot of running; it’s sometimes torture,” said senior Elham Dehdari. “But in the end it feels really good and pays off.”

This kind of attitude is one of the many reasons why this team is a winning and distinct team. The team members know that with hard work comes great achievements; therefore they’re willing to use their utmost determination and motivation while practicing and playing.

Although there are many obstacles, just like any other team must face, the girls are looking to overcome that distraction to pull through. One major issue has been the number of injuries and how they’re so prone to happen without warning in such a hardworking sport like soccer.

“I’m coming back from an ACL surgery,” said captain Sabrina Alvaro. “I basically missed all of last season, but now that I’m playing again, more injuries have come along. Sophomore Danielle Torres just had an ACL/Meniscus surgery recently and she’ll be out for the rest of the season.”

The team’s next game is on Dec. 21 at Liberty High School, where it will seek to win its first away game of the season.

From discipline off the field to on the field, the positive and ambitious varsity girls soccer team is one of the most exciting teams to be aware of at CVHS this year.
