Wreck-It Ralph is enjoyable for all audiences
What would you do if you were the evil villain, not the hero? Would you leave your home searching for a place where you could be the hero?
The movie follows Ralph, who has been inside the videogame Fix-it Felix Jr. for 30 years, and is tired of being bad. Fix-it Felix always gets the rewards, although Ralph works just as hard as him so that kids can play a fun game.
Everyone is shocked that Ralph wants to leave his game and become a hero; they are afraid he will turn out like “Turbo,” a character in an old game who went crazy trying to win every game in the arcade, and whose game was eventually shut down.
After Ralph travels to another game in the arcade, he finds the hero’s medal and takes it so he can show everyone that he can do good. When leaving Hero’s Duty, he ends up in the game Sugar Rush, where he meets an annoying little girl named Vanellope. He doesn’t know that he brought a deadly bug to this peaceful game that could destroy its whole world.
Vanellope is also unliked in her game because she glitches, so they don’t let her race. She takes Ralph’s medal and he can’t get it back until she wins the next race. He must help her, and so these opposite personalities become friends who must protect each other from the dangers of the arcade and its worlds.
Although this movie is a cartoon kid’s movie, it contains humor that can be enjoyed by an older audience also. People may also find themselves crying at a sad point in the movie (it’s a surprise!).
As for the main moral of the story? Be your own hero.
