Piedmont’s Water Polo team defeats Trojans

CVHS boys varsity water polo team lost the home game against Piedmont High School with score 11-17 on Tuesday, Sep. 12. As a newborn team in it’s second year, the Trojans did an impressive job in the game, and has already won one of the four games.

The Trojans did not warm up at the beginning of the game. The first half ended with them trailing 2-8. However, at the beginning of third quarter, the Trojans started to fight back, and Trojans scored 5 points straight with many nice shots.

Even though our Trojans fought so hard in second half of the game, they were still defeated by Piedmont. Compared to last year, however, our team made a huge improvement and scored 11 points in the game with the second best water polo team in Bay Area.

“Basic fundamentals have improved tremendously as has game awareness,” said Head Coach Ben Brookens proudly, “because we often have 5 out of 7 players in the game that are sophomores, they just need to grow.”

Although the team may still have a long way to go, the players have shown confidence about the future.

“We tried our best, we fight hard, and we got a pretty good score. We did much better than last year. It’s just the second year of our team, and I am sure our team will become even stronger next year,” said Alec Dughi.
