Close up: close race for ASB president candidacy
As the Associated Student Body (ASB) election at CVHS is coming up on March 4, two students are neck and neck running for the president position. This election gives students the chance to vote for who will best represent them and help improve the school.
ASB plays an important role in organizing events and making sure students’ voices are heard. Every year, the election allows students to choose their leaders and choose who makes decisions for the school.
This year’s ASB presidential election features two strong candidates, Allen Chin and Maggie Lei-Chong, both have a strong leadership background and are eager to represent the student body.
Chin, a junior, currently serves as this year’s junior secretary. He played a major role in leading and winning the float for homecoming and has helped plan fundraisers and contributed to the events and activities at CVHS. His main focus is building a stronger school community and fostering support and unity within the school and in the greater areas of Castro Valley.
His diligence, passion, and commitment to this role. He believes his leadership skills and experience will allow him to effectively serve the student body.
“If you put your faith in me, my goal is to ensure your voice is heard and be an advocate for every student. I want to be someone that you can approach with any questions, concerns, or ideas, and be effectively addressed. I will work tirelessly to make our school the best it can be,” said Chin.
Lei-Chong, also a junior, currently serves as this year’s junior secretary and has previously served as freshman and sophomore class president. Through these roles, she has led multiple homecoming events and choreographed the freshmen, sophomore, and junior class dances.
She genuinely cares about the people at CVHS and has the desire to make our school better.
“I want to give a voice to more students and advocate for everyone. Creating a fun and safe community here at CVHS is extremely important to me and to do that, improving our communication between the student body and leadership is needed. With your vote, I hope to increase our Trojan pride and inclusivity!” said Lei-Chong.
