Kim and Clyde take leadership of CVTA
Most students know Roger Kim as a history teacher and Jennifer Clyde as an English teacher at CVHS. However, what most don’t know is that they take part in the leadership of the Castro Valley Teachers Association (CVTA).
In this year’s election CVTA election, Kim ran for the presidency without an opponent, as did Clyde for vice presidency.
As most CVHS teachers and teachers in the Castro Valley Unified School District are a part of the CVTA, these positions are very influential and crucial to the union. The previous two presidents of the CVTA were Alicia Gholami, a teacher at Chabot Elementary, and John Green, a former history teacher at CVHS.
“I want to continue the good work the previous two presidents did, especially working towards more competitive compensation for our teachers, because it is hard for us to attract great teachers to Castro Valley because other districts pay more,” said Kim.
Later, when asked what Clyde would like to accomplish while in office she said, “My primary role as vice president of the union relates to supporting the president and I will also be making sure that union representatives on staff are well trained and well informed on current events in order to advocate most effectively for our members.”
