Teacher to appear on Jeopardy

The cycle has always gone, teacher teaches students, and those students become geniuses. Sometimes the part about the teachers being geniuses to begin with is skipped, but there are a couple geniuses here at CVHS.

On Feb. 4, history teacher Roger Kim is going to prove it when he appears on ABC’s Jeopardy.

When asked about the process it took to record the show, Kim said there was a series of auditions and tests both online and in person that took place in Los Angeles back in September.

“They even make you come back to take a second test in October, just to make sure you didn’t cheat,” he explained.

Even though it was a couple of all-day events that seemed endless, Kim said it was very fun and entertaining.

The online test involved 50 questions with only seven seconds to answer each one. Going on a television show that requires such a high level of intelligence also demands a high level of preparation.

“I studied the things I wasn’t good at and reviewed things like Shakespeare and the Bible,” said Kim.

Kim also said he received a tote bag and a free pen, when it comes to free promotional items.

Kim isn’t allowed to tell how he did in the game itself, but tune in to ABC at 7 p.m. on Feb. 4 to see him competing on Jeopardy.
