Polar Plunge: fundraise, plunge, inspire

“We’re Freezing for a Reason!” That’s what dedicated participants remind themselves when they sign up for Polar Plunge. On Feb. 25, thousands of applicants will brave the frigid waters of San Francisco’s Aquatic Park to spread awareness of a cause and raise money to fund the Special Olympics Northern California, whether it’s cannonballing head first into the bay or just dipping their feet along the shoreline.

With Polar Plunge bringing out such a powerful message that gives both children and adults with intellectual disabilities a chance to embrace who they are through physical fitness, CVHS Leadership students have decided to fundraise for this event.

“We are supporting one athlete for a year. To register for Polar Plunge, you need a minimum of $125, so we’re helping them raise that amount,” said Emma Woidtke, one of the two Leadership students in charge of running the Polar Plunge fundraiser.

When asked how they are going to fundraise, Woidtke replied by saying, “We’re reaching out to the students as well as the community to help us fundraise for Polar Plunge and the Special Olympics. You can donate online.”
