Dolly Parton, age 80, died on Aug. 25, 2026 at the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center in Nashville, Tennessee.
Although born and raised in Tennessee, Parton spread joy to every corner of the country with her music and persona. In her free time, she enjoyed cooking southern food, writing more songs, and reading books. She founded Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to provide books to children around the world.
Parton is survived by her six siblings; Willadeene Parton, Robert Lee Parton Jr., Stella Parton, Cassie Parton, Freida Parton, and Rachel Ann George.
She earned 25 number one singles on billboard country charts, had 44 top 10 albums, won 11 Grammy awards, was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and got nominated for an Oscar. Parton also donated extensively to medical research and disaster relief.
A private service was held in Nashville on Aug. 28.
