Girls Varsity Basketball defeats Berkeley High

The CVHS varsity girls basketball team beat the Berkeley High Yellowjackets 48-44 in a close game on Feb. 15. After being honored for Senior Night, seniors on the team snagged one final home victory in their regular season and are headed to the playoffs.

The team led for the entire game until the final quarter, when the two teams were tied 41-41 with a minute to go. Finally, as the clock winded down, the Trojans delivered one last sting to the Yellowjackets, winning the game with a lead of four points.

“I’m proud of my team for pulling it together and working all the way to the end. Even when we got down we still kept it going, so I’m just really proud of them for that,” said team captain Giana Wright.

Which seed the team will play in will be determined by their next game on Friday, Feb. 17, at Encinal High School.
