CVHS varsity baseball ends season

The CVHS varsity baseball team ended their season with a 5-1 loss to Newark Memorial High on May 2. The Trojans fought hard, but a spate of runs by the Cougars in the first two innings proved too much to recover from.

Newark’s Christopher Flexen pitched a tough game, allowing only one run in seven innings. Cody Bacho scored the Trojan’s only run in the sixth inning.

Defensively, the Trojans stumbled at first but caught their stride late in the game, with closing pitcher Jason Seever allowing no runs in the last three innings.

The Trojans closed out the season with a record of 15-9. Seever, a sophomore, says that overall the team is proud of their accomplishment this season: “At the beginning of the year, we started off kind of slow, but as the season went on we started getting better.”
