Hallway traffic is just part of the high school experience

LorenaWhy are the hallways at CVHS so crowded all the time? Is it because people don’t know how to get out of the way, or is it because there are too many students? Maybe it’s the size of the hallways that are the problem. One thing I know for sure is that it’s a huge problem here at CVHS.

So you’re strolling down the hallway and all of a sudden everything comes to a halt.  Extremely inconvenient, right?  You try to push through a dozen people and realize that all of the traffic is being caused by maybe four people, just standing casually right in the middle of the hallway.  You wonder, “What makes them think they’re not causing a huge problem right now?”
This is one problems that cause hallway traffic.  If students were more considerate of their fellow classmates, these hallway congestions would not occur.
Another factor is that our school is too small for our large number of students. It’s like rush hour on the freeway, except the cars are teenagers and the traffic hours are every hour. There’s too many people trying to get the same place, or going in the same general direction at the same time.

Hallways at CVHS are pretty wide.  But with things like garbage cans, recycling bins, open doors and people who don’t know how to stay to the right, some pretty big traffic jams can happen.  Perhaps if we had a rule that everyone has to stay to right when walking through hallways, it wouldn’t seem like it takes forever to get out of them.  However, it is a little extreme to tell everyone to walk a certain way, and there is always the possibility that some “rebels” would mess it up anyway.

Now, I guess there’s no real solution to the crowded hallway problem here at CVHS.  Something tells me that it’s just a part of the “high school experience.”
