The annual three on three basketball tournament took place April 8-12, ending in a very close game between Sloppy Joes and Kyndle’s Disciples.

Each game was played in ten minutes, and took place every day at lunch in the gym. In the rare occasion that the two teams playing tied, they went into an overtime (which was won by the first team to score a basket, no matter how many points it was worth). The final game was played in two ten-minute halves.

The first half of the game kicked off, and Sloppy Joes quickly jumped to a tremendous 8-0 lead. Somewhere in the middle of the first half, something clicked in the minds of Kyndle’s Disciples and they pushed back Sloppy Joes, ending the half in an 18 to 11 game in favor of the Sloppy Joes.  The second half started and Kyndle’s Disciples was still on a tear, catching up to Sloppy Joes, and quickly taking the lead. The second half came down to the last nailbiting minute with Sloppy Joes leading 22-21.

Jaelen Loche of Kyndle’s Disciples pulled up and shot a two-pointer, bringing his team to a 23-22 lead, which they held until the end of the game.

“I feel like we played pretty solid, aside from our first half performance,” said junior Darren Collier of Kyndle’s Disciples. “Sloppy Joes definitely showed us that other teams can compete on our level of play.”

Congratulations to the winners Collier, Jaelen Loche, and Kyndle Nickens, and good luck next year to the other teams.
