CVHS clubs strive to make a difference

Smart Energy Club:

Every week, CVHS produces 80,000 pounds of trash.  Smart Energy Club is dedicated to changing that statistic and making CVHS a cleaner and more eco-friendly campus.  By encouraging waste reduction, recycling, and energy conservation, the club’s members are helping to reduce our school’s carbon footprint.  If more students and staff become aware of the negative impact that trash and carbon emissions have on our environment, CVHS can become a greener school.  Smart Energy Club meets in Room 768 on Thursdays during upperclassmen lunch.

Undivided:

Undivided is a club that focuses on creating friendships between students and their peers with disabilities through lunchtime bonding sessions.  The club believes that a lunch does not just have to be average.  It can be a way by which students can reach out in an act of kindness and companionship.  Through weekly conversations, the club members and their peers with disabilities become more like brothers and sisters rather than mere friends.  Undivided meets in Room 401 on Wednesdays during lunch.

Pancratics:

Pancratics is a free tutoring club in which CVHS students tutor their peers.  The club focuses on the importance of college and organizes trips to different colleges in California.  In addition, Pancratics participates in community service events during the school year.  This year, the club is hosting a pencil drive at CVHS to send school supplies to disadvantaged students in Africa.  Pancratics meets in Room 310 on Tuesdays after school from 2:30-4:00 p.m. and on Sundays at the Castro Valley Library from 3:00-5:00 p.m.
